Tall Cabinet Location |

|
Guideline
32
|
No
two primary work centers (the primary sink, refrigerator,
preparation or cooktop/range center) should be separated
by a full-height, full-depth tall tower, such as
an oven cabinet, pantry cabinet or refrigerator.
|
| Comment:
Always try to plan tall cabinets such as an oven
unit or a pantry at the end of the cabinet run.
Also note microwave next to refrigerator. This is
usually a very handy location for the microwave,
as items commonly are removed from refrigerator
and either defrosted or heated in microwave. No
wasted steps. |

Clarification
|
A
corner-recessed tall tower between primary work
centers is acceptable if knee space is planned to
one side of the tower. |
| Comment:
Notice how Fig. 2 recesses tall cabinet back into
corner eliminating wasted space, plus knee space
to right gives wheelchair access to an oven mounted
in this cabinet. |
